Stamping 411 Saturday Sketch Challenge #SSC129

Howdy Stampers! Have you had a good week?! I have been running like crazy getting ready for Christmas, holding stamp classes AND getting ready for my daughter's birthday! I am pre-posting this card because when it goes live, I will be dancing to the tunes of the 70's at her Groovy Girl Birthday party! C'mon now, sing it with me - "Car wash, (boom, boom) working at the car wash, yeah!"
Ha! That'll be in your head now like it's been in mine since Wednesday! I LOVE to share, don't ya know!

Anyway, on to the card, I know that's why you are here after all!
This fun sketch above was done by our very own Stamping 411 sketch queen, Selene! It had great possibilities, but I really had to go with something non-Christmas AND something FUN! One of my fave stamp sets, Garden Greetings is on the retiring list - Uggh! So I had to get it out and show it off to you again.
So here is my finished card:

Don't these bright colors just call out to you right now? We are headed into WINTER people, we NEED some bright colors!

My card base is Melon Mambo cardstock, one half sheet, folded to make a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" cardbase. The next layer is Basic Black cardstock cut at 4" x 5 1/4". Then we have a Whisper White layer cut at 3 3/4" x 5". At the bottom is a piece of Razzleberry Lemonade DSP cut at 1 3/4" x 3 3/4".

The flowers from the stamp set were stamped in Black Staz-on ink onto scraps of the DSP then trimmed out with my Paper Snips.

I had to add a little bling to the center with some Rhinestone Brads, then the flowers were popped up above the Whisper White cardstock with Stampin' Dimensionals.
It's kind of hard to see, but I ran the white layer through my Big Shot with the Texturz plates using the fun flower one (don't remember the name of it!)

I tried to take a close up of the texture - can you see it? I promise it's there and it shows up very well in real life.
Anyway, the card is finished off with the greeting stamped in Melon Mambo on a Whisper White scrap. I stamped the small flower over it in Crushed Curry stamped off twice first to lighten the intensity of color. This was punched out with my Small Oval Punch then layered on a piece of Basic Black cardstock punched out with the Large Oval Punch.

The punches were layered on some layered ribbon - lots of layers, huh?
I used Basic Black 5/8" Grosgrain and Melon Mambo Polka-Dot Grosgrain. These are just secured around the Basic Black panel with SNAIL.

This card just makes me smile and I hope it does you too! Please play along with us at Stamping 411 this week by uploading the link to your creation to the blog there by using Mr. Linky. If you post to a public gallery, use the keyword SSC129. K?
And be sure to check out all the other operators creations over at Stamping 411. They inspire me to create every week!

Now I'll leave you with another great hit of the 70's.....umm...uhhh..well maybe not because I can't get Car Wash out of my head!!!
"Car Wash, workin' at the car wash, yeah!"

  6. I love this card! Isn't it a shame that we have so many sets that some just get put aside and forgotten about? I probably haven't picked up that set in 6 months!! Time to dust it off again. Thanks for the inspiration!
