Blogger's Challenge #118 - Designer Series Paper Focus

Hello my stamping friends! I know, it's about time I posted something again! I arrived safely home from the Founder's Circle trip and my Advisory Board Retreat on Wednesday night and I've been working to catch up ever since! But it's wonderful to be home and over the coming few days, I have lots to share with you so stay tuned!

Well, this week's Blogger's Challenge gives me the chance to show you all this fun card that I cased from our Convention Make and Take projects. I waited till I got home from convention this year to make mine and I'm glad I did because it allowed me to put my own spin on it. If you were at my Christmas in August stamp camp last month, this is one of the cards you got to make! I think it was a big hit because it uses only one ink pad and one stamp set, the rest is all accessories!

The card base is made of Garden Green cardstock and the insert is Very Vanilla. I used the Garden Green ink pad for all the stamping and the stamp set is the cute, new Sweet Season that SU! gave us FREE at convention - how cool is that?
I used the pretty snowflake stamp all over the outside of the card to create the tone on tone background and then sponged all the edges to give it depth. The same snowflake was used down the left side of the insert to add a little interest there and then I used it again for the medallion piece on the belly band of Designer Series Paper. Isn't it great how one stamp can do so many things on one card? The only other stamping on this card was the cute greeting on the inside!

To create the belly band, I took a strip of the Merry Moments Designer Series paper cut at 1 3/4" x 12" and wrapped it around the folded card. It overlapped a bit in the back and I used SNAIL adhesive to stick the ends together. I kept it in place on the card and added the Very Vanilla 5/8" Grosgrain ribbon placing the ends on the front of the card so the medallion accent would cover them up. Yes, I know, that's clever! At least I thought so! :)

The snowflake stamp was stamped twice on Very Vanilla cardstock and punched out with the Scallop Circle Punch and the 1 1/4" Circle Punch. I also punched out a piece of Real Red cardstock with the 1 3/8" Circle punch and placed it between the stamped layers. They are held together with a Gold Eyelet, neatly set with the Crop-A-Dile tool. It's attached with two Stampin' Dimensionals after the edges were sponged with more Garden Green ink and that's it - completed Christmas card! Don't you love it when it's THAT easy?!

Be sure to check out all the other talented stampers in the Blogger's Challenge group by clicking on the link in my sidebar. I'm sure all their use of Designer Series Paper will convince you to stop hoarding it and USE it!
I also hope you'll come back later for the Stamping 411 Weekly Sketch Challenge - I have a really fun card to show you all!

Stamped blessings everyone!
~~Robin
