Spice Cake Celebration

Hello there stampers! Long time no blog.

Yes, I know, I haven't posted anything GOOD since last week. Things have been a bit harried around here - but you already know that if you read any of what I did post this week.
I really hate the first week of school.
Mainly because EVERYTHING starts back in action during this week. Uggh!
AND you have to go stand in line to buy even more school supplies because the REAL list doesn't get to us from each teacher until the first day.
So here you are, busier than a one-armed paper hanger already and you have to go stand in a line that's 30 parents deep at the office supply store because you KNOW that any discount store is long since sold out of that 5 subject notebook with pocket dividers that 3 out of 5 teachers are requiring and because you are buying it an office supply store, you end up paying 3 prices for it and to top it off, it's raining cats and dogs with no sign of a let up. Whew! Boy that felt good to get off my chest. Anyone out there relate?

In spite of it all, I have been doing some stamping this week. And I have lots of pretties to show you over the coming days. Because of all the rain and flooding in my area, I postponed my Stampin' at the Firehouse last night for next Thursday. We don't have it as bad as some of the northeast, but there are many road closures because of high water and some schools had flooding. That's in addition to the homes in low lying areas - they are really getting hit hard.
So since I got an unexpected night off I did two things - I photographed 10, count 'em TEN stamping projects that I had finished - some I've had laying around since the beginning of August - and uploaded them, so you have plenty to see for a while! AND, I got to watch the opening of NFL football last night. Now if you don't know how near and dear to my heart NFL football is to me, you can check out this post here from last year. I wrote it before my Dad died.
Wow, that's still hard to say, I miss him a lot. More than a lot actually. I just hope he gets to see football in heaven. I kinda think for him, it won't be heaven without it.

So hey, enough chatter - let me show you one of the cards I photographed last night. If you're coming to stamp at the Firehouse on Thursday night the 15th, or here in the studio on Monday, the 12th, you'll be making this gem:

I love all the layers on this card, all the texture. From the embossed background to the sponging, to the Spice Cake DSP to the Seam Binding, this one screams texure.

A few of my new favorite things ended up on this card, the Houndstooth Embossing Folder, the Spice Cake Designer Paper and new (to me) the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch. Can you believe that I just bought that punch?! I know, right?

Here's a close up of the focal point:

I used Curvy Verses for the greeting and added a little Vintage Trinket Button Brad for an accent. The layered punches are the Decorative Label Punch and they are layered on a piece of More Mustard cardstock. I stamped it with the leaf wreath from Warmest of Wishes and punched it out with my 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch. Used a few Stampin' Dimensionals to pop it all up and finished it off with my favorite Crumb Cake Seam Binding.

All in all, a yummy fall card!
Here's a few things I used to make it all happen:

#124003 - Spice Cake Designer Series Paper $10.95 (12 sheets)
#123134 - Houndstooth Embossing Folder $7.95
#119275 - Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch $15.95

As always, you can shop for these items and all Stampin' Up! products in my Online Stampin' Store, anytime 24/7!

Have a great day stampers - I'll be back tomorrow and Sunday with posts for you - I'm making up for lost time! :)

Stamped blessings,
~~Robin
